April Showers Bring May Maintenance

Monday, May 1st, 2017 at 6:53pm Engel & Völkers Sun Valley

Spring is definitely popping this week in the Wood River Valley. With high temperatures approaching 70 degrees, there is no doubt your yard is looking like it might need a little TLC. While the trails are still wet and the snow is still melting, May is the perfect time to spend a little time on your home to make sure it is in tip top shape for the summer months, especially if you are thinking of selling your Sun Valley home.

Check Walkways and Patios

Freezing temperatures can wreak havoc on pathways and patios made of loose brick. Check the seams of your walkway to see if any of your pavers have shifted, risen or sunk. Fixing any uneven steps is crucial for appearance, but also for safety. Playground sand can provide an easy fix, but if you feel like lifting heavy pavers will be too much, a basic handyman should be able to help out.

Fertilize!

After spending a few months buried under the amazing Sun Valley winter we had, your lawn could use a little attention. By providing nutrients now, you can help fend off weeds and prepare your lawn for a few months of warm weather and blistering sunshine.

Mend Fences

Just like your pathways and patios, wooden fences or gates can be greatly affected by such a harsh winter. Whether the snow pushed up against the fence posts or warped and twisted some of the boards, you will want to fix your fence before your plants and trees bloom and block it from view.

Mulch Your Garden Beds

It’s time to break up those garden beds and get them ready for planting season! If you are into gardening and plan on planting vegetables or just want to keep weeds in check, adding fresh mulch to some well tilled beds can do wonders for making your garden seem well manicured even if you would rather spend your time elsewhere!

As the weather changes, it might be hard to not jump straight into those warm weather activities we all know and love. However, spending a little time on your Ketchum home now can mean a summer full of more fun than yard work!
